Disney Channel Hosts Remote Viewing Parties for “Just Roll With It: You Decide LIVE” Halloween Episo

The Halloween-themed special of "Just Roll With It: You Decide LIVE" aired on the Disney Channel on October 4th. Filmed in front of a live studio audience, the show blends improvisational comedy with a scripted family sitcom allowing the studio audience & viewers at home the chance to change the outcome of key scenes. The special follows the Bennett-Blatt family as they set out to reverse an evil curse from Werewolf, Raven-Symoné. The special also included a live performance from Kylie Cantrall, and a guest appearance from Miranda May as the sweet old shop owner, Mrs. Polapomus.

BC Live Productions was brought on to integrate the three live remote viewing parties located in Raleigh NC, Austin TX, and Las Vegas NV. Three families were chosen to host these viewing parties from their homes, and were weaved into the live broadcast.

To accomplish this, BC Live utilized Microsoft Teams to facilitate a 2-way, low latency Video & Audio connection between the viewing party and the live show in Los Angeles. Crew and Equipment were sent to each city so that the 20-30 kids in attendance could watch & listen to the live show and be shown reacting to the laugh-out-loud moments, or answer the Hosts to vote for what they wanted to happen next!

A big part of the technical aspect for the live show was setting up communications between Disney’s master control room and each individual viewing party. BC Live utilized comms over IP with the Clear-Com LQ-R2W4. By setting up a Program Interrupt feature, Disney’s Director had the ability to speak to each viewing party and let them know that the Host was about to go to them live!
