BC Live at the 2024 DNC: Delivering Seamless Remote Production

Introduction

We are thrilled to share our experience managing all remote transmissions for the 2024 Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago. This opportunity allowed BC Live Productions to showcase our expertise in delivering high-quality, reliable broadcasts from the DNC Stage at the United Center to delegates, civil service workers, and watch parties across the U.S.

Technological Integration for Seamless Execution

To meet the demands of this high-profile event, we integrated a variety of technologies, ensuring flexibility and maintaining redundancies with multiple AV partners across the country. Our setup included:

• 15 channels of Zoom 

• 8 channels of VMIX Call 

• 8 channels of Haivision Makito SRT (send and receive) 

• 8 Channels of LiveU decode, 4 channels of LiveU video return, 2 channels of LiveU encode 

  
  

The Grand Finale

The highlight of our involvement was undoubtedly the DNC finale. We had the honor of having 11 of our watch parties from around the country featured on the massive LED wall as balloons and confetti rained down, marking the event’s conclusion. To enhance the experience, we utilized Zoom Tiles to create a custom-branded look, incorporating official production assets including the background and lower thirds to identify the cities.

Throughout the day, we worked closely with all 11 watch parties, assisting with framing shots, adjusting camera settings, and perfecting lighting setups to ensure a uniform look across all feeds. The result was a visually stunning and emotionally impactful celebration, bringing together hard work and shared success in a momentous conclusion.
