Behind The Scenes At The Premiere Of Disney's 'A Wrinkle In Time'

On February 26th, we worked with Disney to bring you the official live stream of the "A Wrinkle in

Time" World Premiere brought to you by Crate and Barrel.

The film follows Meg Murry (Storm Reid), Calvin O'Keefe (Levi Miller), and Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe) as they embark on a dangerous journey across the universe to save Meg's father, Dr. Alex Murry (Chris Pine). The adventurers are guided by the three mysterious astral travelers: Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), and Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey). Only the unknown awaits those who have chosen to take part in this mission to save Dr. Alex Murry.

Behind the Tech

In order for us to put this live broadcast together, we used the Newtek Tricaster 860 to have full interactivity with all aspects of the live stream whether that meant camera feeds, graphics, or replays.

This was a three camera shoot featuring a jib cam catching all of the action towards the front entrance, a fashion cam catching all of the people involved in the film as well as celebrity guests, and lastly, a host cam capturing the interviews with the stars of the film.

The jib camera was essential in capturing the excitement of the attendees as their favorite personalities walked into the venue. Stars stopped to talk and take pictures with fans, showing those watching at home what a surreal event this was for many people there.

In order to create replay packages and playback B-roll, we used Newtek's 3play 425. We also had a second 3play 425 on hand in order to show a 20-minute delayed stream to those already inside the El Capitan Theater.

The Stream

Elaine Welteroth interviewed the stars of the film as they walked into the premiere. Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Storm Reid, and the film's director Ava DuVernay were among those that were interviewed.

The stream aired flawlessly, pulling in over 130,000 views. A special thanks to Disney for bringing us along on this journey and thanks to the entire team of 'A Wrinkle in Time' for making this event possible.

Disney's 'A Wrinkle in Time' is set to hit theaters everywhere March 9th.
